Why?, I ask this question myself every day. Why did I get into photography?.
For me it has never been about the amount of gear I own, or the latest camera available that i must have. Is about telling a story, and expressing a feeling. I want it to say something about the subject.
Is not an easy quest. I found a late passion for photography, in my late 20s, and it just felt right, it felt good.
I never considered trying photography as a profession, never felt I had the drive and the hunger to make it work. I studied a lot, technical aspects, lighting, portraiture, landscaping, I read books and listened to podcasts, and I practiced, I practiced a hell lot.
It got to a point where I was getting a few calls, mostly to do informal events or weddings, and I did, I took the leap of faith and tried it.
I loved it. I enjoyed every moment, it made my time feel worthwhile.
I will be honest, I am not the best photographer in the world (like if I have to say that again), I have done a lot of trial and error, I have practiced and practiced trying to achieve something, which sometimes does not work, c'est la vie, I move on.
The reason why I decided to start my own photography business is very simple, and is the reason most people do what they do, they want to give it a go, they want to try, I want to try, I want to make it happen. Never have any regrets of something you have not done, the saying goes.
So this is me, here and now. Following the steps of the greats, the not so greats, and the invisible ones.
Looking forward to the road ahead, what is the worst that can happen, right?.
